Can I Be a Saiyan? Exploring the Possibilities for Humans

For countless fans of Dragon Ball Z and related franchises, the question of whether they can join the ranks of Saiyans has long been a topic of fascination. Despite the many fantastic abilities and transformations associated with the Saiyans, the documentation is clear: unless one is born a Saiyan, or transfers their mind or soul into a Saiyan body, the path to becoming a Saiyan is not open to humans.

Exploring Theoretical Possibilities

While the idea of becoming a Saiyan might seem farfetched, its not entirely beyond the realm of theoretical possibility. Considering two potential avenues, we can examine whether it might be feasible for a human to transform into a Saiyan:

Using the Dragon Balls: The magical Dragon Balls, in their various forms, offer the ability to wish for things that are not literally impossible. Changing someone's race could potentially fall within this realm, as it's at least easier than resurrecting someone from the dead. However, the exact mechanics and power required to effect such a transformation would be exceedingly rare and, for now, purely hypothetical.Using Saiyan Genes: Gero's experiments on creating new creatures with a mix of different DNA demonstrate that crossing species is not entirely out of the question. With the advanced genetic knowledge of Dr. Bulma and her father, it could be conceivable that they could develop a method to inject humans with Saiyan genes, making them more Saiyan-like. Although this would not turn a human into an actual Saiyan, it might endow them with some of the beneficial traits and abilities. However, Vegeta's displeasure with this idea is evident, and it would take a strong effort to persuade him otherwise.

Can I Become a Super Saiyan as an Earthling?

Super Saiyan, one of the most coveted transformations in the Dragon Ball universe, is yet another story. The title "Super Saiyan" itself is deeply tied to Saiyan heritage, meaning that non-Saiyan humans cannot achieve this transformation. Even with advanced genetic modifications, the ability to become a Super Saiyan is limited strictly to Saiyans or humans who have at least one parent with Saiyan blood, such as Gohan, Pan, Trunks, and Goten.

The key to becoming a Super Saiyan lies within S-Cells, which are found uniquely in Saiyan blood. Without these cells, a human, no matter how genetically modified, cannot undergo the transformation into a Super Saiyan. Despite the efforts to genetically modify humans to possess these cells, it remains a theoretical possibility, not a practical one, given the current state of scientific knowledge.

Conclusion

To sum up, while the concept of becoming a Saiyan or a Super Saiyan for non-Saiyan humans is an intriguing one, it remains firmly tethered to the laws of the Dragon Ball universe. Until there's a definitive answer, humans can only dream of wielding the power of the Saiyans, much like the characters in the series hope to defeat their enemies with this incredible power.
