The topic of Akira Toriyama's statements about the fusion dance being infinite has sparked a lot of debate among Dragon Ball fans. However, Toriyama never stated that the fusion dance was infinite. Instead, he mentioned that it has a time usage of 30 minutes, after which one must wait another 30 minutes before fusing again. This rule has been retconned many times in the ongoing series, and thus, its accuracy is questionable in the current context.

Understanding Fusion Constraints

There are several constraints when it comes to fusing characters in the Dragon Ball universe. One of the most critical factors is the height difference. Fusion dancers must be roughly the same height for the process to work effectively. In the case of Gotenks and his father, Gogeta, their height difference makes it nearly impossible for a fusion to occur. If they were to attempt a fusion, it would likely not result in a combination as powerful as the sum of their individual strengths.

The Power Level Challenge

Beyond just height, the power level of the characters involved plays a crucial role in a successful fusion. For a fusion to result in a character that is effectively stronger than the individual fighters, the combined power level must be significantly higher.
