Exploring Naruto The Last: The Form Against Toneri—Is It Bijuu Sage Mode or Six Paths Sage Mode?

In Naruto The Last: Biju no Jisei, Minato and Hiruzen both transform into further evolved Sage Modes. Six Paths Sage Mode (SPSM) allows the user to harness the power of all the Tailed Beasts and even includes the Tenseigan. While Naruto appears similarly to his Hokage form, his abilities, especially his flight and Tailed Beast chakra, indicate a transformation closer to Six Paths Sage Mode than Bijuu Sage Mode.

Key Points About Six Paths Sage Mode (SPSM)

Appearance

Six Paths Sage Mode is characterized by a more pronounced sage appearance. Instead of just the usual emblem of the Sage, Naruto's face has distinct markings akin to those seen in other manifestations. These markings have a distinct look due to the influence of Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the Sage of Six Paths.

Abilities

Flight: This mode grants the user the ability to fly, which is a hallmark of SPSM. Enhanced Senses and Reflexes: The user gains heightened sensory perception and reflexes, improving their battle capabilities. Tailed Beast Powers: The user can utilize the chakra of Tailed Beasts for powerful attacks and techniques. Combat Style: The combat style in this mode is more versatile and powerful, integrating both the user's abilities and those of the Tailed Beasts.

Comparison with KCM2 Sage Mode

KCM2 (KizzLeague2) Sage Mode is a variation that combines non-Tailed Beast Sage Mode with Ashura chakra, creating an even more powerful form. When Naruto first used SPSM against Otsutsuki, he was essentially in KCM2 Sage Mode with Ashura chakra, as he had yet to fully obtain the Six-Paths power and Rinnegan.

There is a clear distinction between KCM2 and SPSM, even though they share similar visuals. In SPSM, Naruto cannot use his Kurama chakra, which is a key difference from KCM2 Sage Mode.

Why Not Use SPSM Against Otsutsuki?

Given that Naruto and Sasuke had not yet acquired their full Six-Paths power and Rinnegan at the time of the event, they could not use their full SPSM. This makes the form they used in the movie more of a KCM2 Sage Mode with additional Ashura chakra.

The Visual Misconception

The visual similarity between Naruto’s SPSM and his more traditional Hokage outfit often confuses viewers. However, even though Naruto may visually resemble his Hokage form, his true form during battles that require full power is clearly Six Paths Sage Mode. The inconsistency in attire used by the Boruto writers can add to this confusion.

The Moon Setting

The setting of the battle in the moon also raises questions about whether Naruto's flight was possible. Given that the moon’s lower gravitational pull affects flightability, it is likely that the writers capitalized on this to emphasize the power of Naruto’s transformation.

Conclusion

In conclusion, while Naruto may visually resemble his Hokage form, the abilities and especially the flight displayed during his battle against Toneri Otsutsuki indicate that he was using a form closer to Six Paths Sage Mode rather than Bijuu Sage Mode.
