Where Is God?

So often, the question arises: Where is God? Why does He or She seem to hide when we, as believers or seekers, struggle with tough questions and search for answers?

Finding God Through Growth and Experience

God, it is argued, is not hidden or absent, but present through the process of growth and experience. Much like a parent stepping back to allow their child to learn from mistakes and grow, God steps back to give us the opportunity to develop our own faith and resilience. This is part of the journey of life and spiritual development.

Assuming God's Presence

Considering that God is not hidden but simply engaging in a multitude of tasks, from overseeing the afterlife to tending to the many aspects of His creation, including possible interventions with other planets and their inhabitants, one can argue that His presence is not always visually apparent. However, if one accepts the idea of God, the question remains: Why not manifest His existence in a manner that is clear and undeniable?

This leads to several critical questions. Does God know that an individual does not believe in Him? Does God care about such beliefs? Why might God not want to convince an individual of His existence, and what does He want from them in the first place?

The Role of Faith and Evidence

One of the fundamental aspects of faith is the belief that something exists, even in the absence of direct evidence. However, the question of what an omnipotent God wants from humans is often scrutinized. If the goal is to establish a relationship, why require worship, care, or sacrifices from mere mortals?

From an atheistic perspective, the burden of proof lies on those who claim God’s existence. The assertion that an individual, no matter how influential or sincere, has been appointed to convince others of God’s presence seems flawed. Just as human leaders and influencers can manipulate and persuade others, claiming divine intervention or proof is fraught with doubt.

Notable figures like Joel Osteen have managed to influence many, but this does not necessarily increase belief in God. Instead, it raises questions about the sincerity and reliability of such claims. If a human without definitive evidence can persuade so many, it calls into question the necessity and authenticity of such claims.

The Ultimate Responsibility

Ultimately, the responsibility to establish God’s existence and what He wants from humanity lies with Him, not with humans. If a divine being requires something from us, it should be done with clarity and without doubt. The absence of such clear manifestations can lead to skepticism rather than faith.

The same can be said for those who claim to speak on behalf of God. If they truly believe they are appointed to this role, they must be able to provide strong, unassailable evidence. Without such evidence, their claims are undermined, and the quest for understanding and faith remains a personal and often challenging journey.
