How to Forward Gmail Emails to Another Address

The ability to forward your Gmail emails to another email address can be a lifesaver for many users, whether for sharing receipts, receipts, job applications, or any kind of correspondence that needs to be seen by additional parties. Follow these detailed steps to set up forwarding in Google's email platform:

Step-by-Step Guide to Setting Up Email Forwarding in Gmail

1. Logging into Your Gmail Account

To start, you need to be logged into your Gmail account. If you're already logged in, you're good to go. If not, enter your email address and password in the top right corner of the Gmail homepage.

2. Accessing Settings

From the Gmail home page, you'll need to access the settings menu. You can do this by clicking on the gear icon located in the upper right corner of the page. From there, select See All Settings. This will open a new tab with various settings options.

3. Opening Forwarding and POP/IMAP Settings

Once in the settings, you'll want to go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab. Here, you can set up forwarding among other things. Click on this tab to proceed.

4. Adding a Forwarding Address

Now, click on the Add a forwarding address option. You’ll be prompted to enter the email address you’d like your Gmail emails to be forwarded to. Enter the address and select Next to continue.

5. Confirming the Forwarding Address

A confirmation email will be sent to the address you provided. You’ll need to follow the instructions in this email to complete the process. Once you click the link in the confirmation email, the address is verified and ready for forwarding.

6. Enabling Forwarding

After confirming the forwarding address, return to your Gmail settings. If required, refresh the page to ensure you see the forwarding option. In the Forwarding and POP/IMAP section, select Forward a copy of incoming mail to. Choose the action you want to apply (keep a copy in the inbox, archive it, or delete it). Select Next and finally, click Save Changes.

7. Verifying Changes

Your forwarded emails should now be sent to the specified email address. To check, you can send a test email to your Gmail inbox and see if it appears in the forwarding address.

8. Stopping Forwarding

If you need to disable forwarding later, return to the settings and disable the forwarding option. Simply go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP section and select the forwarding address you want to remove, then select Stop Forwarding.

Alternative Methods to Forward Emails in Gmail

Aside from using the settings menu, you can also forward emails from the Gmail interface directly by clicking on the three vertical dots on the right-hand side of the email. Select Forward from the dropdown menu to quickly forward the email to any email address you prefer.
