Is Bleach Worth The Watch Past Episode 13?

Many viewers find that Bleach picks up significantly after the early episodes. If you're currently on episode 13 and feel that the series is boring, fear not—there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Let's explore when the show gets good and whether it is even worth the watch.

Early Episodes: The Setup

The first arc, the Agent of the Shinigami arc, introduces the main characters and sets up the story. While it can feel slow and drawn out, understanding the world and characters is crucial for enjoying what's to come. If you've been following it closely and are still not engaged, pushing through to around episode 20-30 is recommended. It's during this time that the story begins to delve deeper into character backstories and the action ramps up with the introduction of new characters and conflicts.

The Turning Point: The Soul Society Arc

The Soul Society arc, which starts around episode 21, is often regarded as one of the best parts of the series. Featuring intense battles, character development, and deeper lore, it is where the series truly shines. This arc is undoubtedly my favorite part of the currently animated portion of the show, with a lovable narrative and a highly engaging fight sequence.

The Soul Society arc is present very early on in the series, starting at about episode 21 and ending at episode 63. This arc was by far my favorite in Bleach and, since it was so early on in the series, it got me hooked on the show and convinced me to complete the full series. It's definitely not the only good arc, as there are several others including the Arrancar arc.

Conclusion and Recommendation

Overall, if you enjoy action, supernatural elements, and character-driven stories, it may be worth continuing the series. However, if you still feel disengaged after the Soul Society arc, it might be a sign that Bleach isn't for you. In that case, taking a break or even dropping the show altogether is perfectly fine.

Before dropping Bleach, I would definitely give the Soul Society arc a go. It could definitely change your view on the show. In my opinion, Bleach is not a perfect story, but it definitely is a good one that you could find yourself invested in. If you want to cut back on the massive watch time and skip the boring bits, you could skip all of the filler present in the anime, including the Bount arc. I've linked a filler list below to make this easier for you.

If you do decide to continue watching, best of luck! Thanks for reading.
