Marvel and DC Heroes: Which One Would You Least Want to Spend a Day With?
Which Hero Would You Least Want to Spend a Day With?
When it comes to choosing a hero to spend a day with, it's a matter of personal preference. Some people find the pomposity and braggery of Iron Man to be funny, while others, like me, find them utterly irritating. Here, we explore why certain heroes might not make for the best companions, and why I have a special place in my heart for one particular character: John Constantine.
Tony Stark (Iron Man)
While I don’t hate the actor, I do find the movie version of Iron Man to be a complete douchebag. His narcissistic and arrogant behavior is often portrayed humorously in the movies, but I find it exhausting. His brightly colored costume, while flashy, also seems overly cheesy compared to other suits. However, someone like War Machine might be a better companion if you're looking for a more grounded hero.
Captain America
Cap, as he’s known to his fans, is the epitome of self-righteousness in my opinion. He preaches about moral values, dignity, and honor, only to become complicit in the very actions he so strongly opposes. His hypocrisy is cringe-worthy, and the idea of spending any time with him is just not appealing. He’s too perfect, and that’s the last thing you’d want in a day-long companion.
John Constantine
When it comes to not wanting to spend a day with a hero, John Constantine takes the cake. Believe me, no other hero comes close. Let me explain why:
A Wild and Woolly Character
John Constantine is a character who, quite simply, is a lot of fun. He smokes, drinks, and seems to meet some of the most interesting people. There's a certain charm to his unpredictability and disdain for the status quo. He isn't afraid to piss off otherworldly entities just for the fun of it, and that's what makes him stand out. He's not afraid to break the rules or get his hands dirty.
Constantine’s Dark Side
However, the flip side of John's charming behavior is the grim reality of what he brings with him. He has a knack for getting his friends into trouble, often at the cost of their lives. His actions have led to young girls being dragged to hell, demons being summoned, and even the potential for the apocalypse. Ghosts follow him around, testament to the chaos he leaves in his wake.
The list of unfortunate events tied to Constantine is extensive, as detailed by his deceased characters:
Deceased Characters
1. The Demon Cult: In his early days, he was involved in summoning a demon to defeat another, resulting in a young girl being dragged to hell. This incident cost him his sanity, leading to time spent in an insane asylum.
2. The Mob Boss’ Demonic Child: Freed from his asylum by a mob boss who sought to resurrect his dead son, Constantine instead brought a demon back to life, only to have to deal with the fallout when the mob boss tried to give birth to the Antichrist.
3. John’s Troubled Overworld: His constant meddling in the occult has led to countless casualties, and the consequences of his actions are often fatal. His companions and friends are often left to deal with the aftermath.
4. The Demonic Closet: No hero matches Constantine in the sheer number of demons he’s dealt with, and many of them are self-inflicted. These demons and the scenes of chaos and destruction they cause in his life leave a lasting impact.
John Constantine is a character that stands out for his raw energy and undeniable charisma, but his dark side makes him a character you might not want to spend a whole day with. If you're fascinated by his antics and the chaos he brings, you might appreciate him, but if you're looking for a more stable and reliable companion, you might want to think twice.
