Bayverse Optimus Prime: A Peak of Popularity

For me, the Bayverse Optimus Prime is at the top of my list. When I first discovered Transformers, this was the version I grew up with. He was cool, bad-ass, and wise. Despite the criticism from G1 fans, I believe the dark and gritty turn in the context of the conflict was appropriate. The movies portray a war between factions that span the universe, making it hard to feel anything but sadness after years of strife. However, the Bayverse Optimus Prime manages to blend a sense of gravitas with his heroic spirit, making him a standout in my list.

IDW and Knightverse Optimus Prime

My second favorite version of Optimus, hands-down, is the IDW design. The artwork and character design are top-notch, and the stories they penned are truly engaging. Followed closely by the G1 Cartoon Optimus, who maintains the classic cartoon charm that fans of the original series loved so much. My third favorite design is the Knightverse Optimus Prime, known for its unique and creative approach, which includes cool trap designs and humorous elements.

Unicron Trilogy Optimus Prime: A New Twist

The Unicron Trilogy Optimus Prime is a unique take on the character. This version essentially blends elements from Dragon Ball and the G1 Optimus, resulting in a character who can perform incredible feats and assumes supermodes. This mix of genres and skills makes this version stand out, especially for those who enjoy a blend of different styles.

While I respect the G1 and Bayverse versions immensely, my personal favorite remains a close tie. However, I must give the edge to G1. The classic appeal and the deep-rooted history of the character with that version make it hard to beat. Nevertheless, the Bayverse Optimus Prime story and design remain a cherished favorite for many in the Transformers fandom.
