Spider-Man: No Way Home - Why Electro, Norman, the Green Goblin, Curt Connors, and Flint are Rejected by Peter Parker

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home adds a number of villains in a crossover event. These villains include Electro, Green Goblin, Curt Connors as the Lizard, and Flint Marko as the Sandman. However, each of these characters prefers life as they are in the multiverse rather than seeking treatment by Peter Parker, Spider-Man. This discussion will explore their reasons.

Electro

Electro's journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a tale of power and transformation. In his origin in the Amazing Spider-Man universe, Electro was blue and his body was unstable. He often struggled to maintain his human form. However, when Electro entered the MCU, something remarkable happened: his body became stable, and his appearance became true to the comic book representation, with an arc reactor helping him sustain his human form without losing his powers. This stability and increased strength meant that he loved his life in the MCU, prioritizing his powerful form over a potentially unstable one in his original universe.

Norman Osborn - The Green Goblin

The Green Goblin is a manifestation of Norman Osborn's villainous side. Even though Norman knows that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, he is highly protective of his alter ego. If he were to seek treatment from Spider-Man, it would mean the end of the Goblin. The Goblin within Norman thrives on chaos and violence. If Spider-Man treated Norman, the Goblin would cease to exist, and Norman would be stripped of his powerful weapon. This is why Norman, despite recognizing his mistakes, still holds onto the Green Goblin persona as a means of perpetual power and influence.

Curt Connors - The Lizard

Curt Connors, a character whose dual identity is the Lizard, is in a state of transformation. When under the influence of the Lizard, he is not in control of his actions. The Lizard takes over, making Curt an uncontrollable force of nature. If Spider-Man were to treat Curt, he would have to reassert control over his body, leading to the Lizard's retreat. This would make him a mere ordinary person without his unique abilities. As of now, the Lizard is in control, and he doesn't want to give in to being treated for fear of losing his edge and power.

Flint Marko - The Sandman

Flint Marko, known as the Sandman, is a character that thrives in his villainous form. In the movie, when Electro attacks Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Flint Marko intervenes to save him. This is not because he holds a grudge against Electro; rather, it is because Tom Holland's Spider-Man had already forgiven him in Spider-Man 3. However, due to Doctor Strange, Tom Holland's Spider-Man had to trap him, causing a betrayal and a loss of trust. This betrayal has made Flint Marko wary and distrustful of anyone, fearing another betrayal. Electro even told Flint Marko not to trust Spider-Man, further cementing his distrust.

Conclusion

Each of these characters has their reasons for rejecting treatment. For Electro, stability and power outweigh the risks of his original universe. For Norman, the Green Goblin represents a never-ending source of power. For Curt Connors and the Lizard, the uncontrollable nature of the Lizard allows them to be forceful and powerful in their current state. And for Flint Marko, the fear of betrayal and loss of trust makes him cautious and wary of Spider-Man. These personal and character-driven choices explain why these villains are reluctant to be treated and fixed by Peter Parker, Spider-Man.
