In the Dragon Ball Super storyline, Vegito (also known as Gogeta) emerged as a powerhouse, capable of fusion between Goku and Vegeta. However, when it comes to facing another formidable opponent, Jiren, the question arises: can Vegito overpower him like Gogeta did to Broly?

Origins of Strength and Fusion

Originally, Jiren was beyond fusion. This meant that any attempt to fuse with him would result in being crushed or split apart completely.

In the Freeza Saga (FTA), Super Saiyan Blue (SSJB) fusion was considered on par with Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken (SSJBKK) and Super Saiyan Blue Berserk (SSJBK), which were in turn on par with Grade 2 fused Kefla or Omen. During the Broly Arc, FS/half Saiyan (FSSJ) fusion was on par with a Super Saiyan 2 (SSJ2) level of Jiren. Even with Kaioken or Blue Evolution multiplier, SSJB fusion would have matched Mystic Ultra Instinct (MUI) or Lunar Bomb (LB) Jiren in terms of power. As a result, a Future Trunks (FTA) Vegito would have easily been defeated by a Jiren, similar to how SSJBKK/SSJBK were.

Canon Retcons and Current Strengths

However, with the retcon of Jaen/UI Goku, both Jiren and UI Goku are now considered below SSJB fusion. This means that a retconned Jiren would be easily defeated by a Super Saiyan Blue (ASJB) Gogeta, similar to how Gogeta defeated Broly.

Considering this, Vegito, with his current abilities, is completely capable of defeating a Jiren who is currently below SSJB fusion. However, the outcome would still hinge on the arc being discussed.

The Current Standpoint: Demolishing Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego

Based on the current scenario, Vegito is more than powerful enough to defeat Jiren effortlessly. However, Gogeta might still come out on top due to the quick defusion of Vegito.

In the early stages of their battle, Vegito would gain the upper hand. But just like SSJ1 Goku against Jiren in the Future Trunks arc, Vegito would defuse very quickly, leaving Jiren with the upper hand. This suggests that GIS 8 and Ultra Instinct combined are too much for Vegito.

When it comes to routing Jiren, the key is the Potara earring. Given that Buuman was easily defeated by Vegito during the Z Arc, it is likely that the Potara has a boost factor of at least 50 times. This means that Super Saiyan Goku and Vegito combined would be 50 times stronger than Goku in his normal state, making Vegito a formidable opponent against a retconned Jiren.

Similarly, Gogeta might be able to defeat Jiren as well. Given that Gotenks and Goten were at Freeza Saga levels, the fusion of Goten and Trunks at SSJ3 should be on par with Buu. The combination of their power levels and abilities, including Ultra Instinct, should be enough to overpower Jiren.
