If Goku Was Born with a Power Level of 400
Imagine if Goku, the iconic hero of the Dragon Ball series, had a significantly lower power level upon his first arrival on Earth. What would have happened?
Lower Power Levels and Goku’s Journey
Let's take a hypothetical scenario where for some reason, Goku retains a decent-high power level, around 400. Despite this, he is still sent to Earth and even falls down, hitting his head to forget everything. This scenario fits within the popular Dragonball Minus retcon where Goku’s memory is erased and he grows up on Earth.
The New Goku
This new Goku would be hopelessly hilariously powerful compared to everything else on the planet. If the bad guy Pilaf were to try and revive King Piccolo, they would be met with a defeat. Picture this: in Goku's very first encounter, even without much training, King Piccolo would be defeated and killed.
Early Successes and Arrogance
Fast forward to when Raditz arrives on Earth. By this point, Goku has grown up and learned some basic training. His birth power level of 400 has significantly risen to 900, still well below his older brother's power.
Raditz, upon his arrival, comes to test Goku. Goku, now an adult and basking in the victory over King Piccolo, has a life filled with no challenges or hardships, save for accidentally killing his grandfather. He's breezed through every enemy and has won three tournaments in a row effortlessly.
However, Goku's arrogance and lack of humility would be through the roof. While he trains and continues to improve, he never learns from Master Roshi's lessons about always being better and stronger. His confidence in his abilities is unwavering and his spirit is invincible.
Raditz’s Arrival and Tragic Consequences
When Raditz arrives, his superior power greatly overshadows Goku's. Raditz, with some effort, is eventually able to kill Goku. This is the first real challenge Goku faces, and it happens because he tries to intimidate Raditz in a similar manner to how he deals with every other enemy.
Unfortunately, Raditz's immense power shows that Goku's body is not prepared to handle such attacks, and his skills have remained unpolished through years of being invincible. This makes his first real fight, and his contact with Raditz, a brutal and ultimately fatal experience.
Raditz and Freeza’s Dominion
With Earth destroyed by Raditz, he heads back home, reuniting with the other Saiyans. They now live under the oppressive rule of Freeza, who reigns unchallenged until Beerus, the God of Destruction, wakes up and kills Freeza.
Babidi, a mysterious villain from the Dragon Ball series, also makes an appearance, complicating matters further. However, the domain of lesser-known villains and the ongoing saga of the Saiyans and their battles make for a thrilling and complex story.
This scenario illustrates how power levels, training, and humility play critical roles in the development of a hero like Goku. It also highlights the challenges faced by characters in the Dragon Ball universe when they face enemies of comparable or superior power.
Understanding these elements can help readers and viewers appreciate the depth and complexity of the Dragon Ball narrative, making it more engaging and memorable.
